The deed of trust signing ceremony for the Surendranath Das and Vajasundari Das Memorial Trust Fund was held on 26 September 2024 in the Council Room of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (ASB). This marks the establishment of the 48th trust fund at the Society.
On behalf of the Society, Professor Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, General Secretary, signed the deed. Professor Bidhan Chandra Das, Vice-Chancellor of North Bengal International University, Rajshahi, signed as the founder of the trust. Additionally, Professor Sajahan Miah, Vice President of ASB; Professor Najma Khan Majlis and Professor Sabbir Ahmed, ASB Council Members, signed as witnesses. Professor Md. Abdur Rahim, Secretary of ASB, was also present along with other distinguished attendees.
The founder established the trust fund in memory of his late parents, Surendranath Das and Vajasundari Das. The initial capital for the fund is set at Tk. 10,00,000/- (Taka ten lakh only). The fund aims to support the organization of annual lectures, seminars, and workshops, to be delivered or conducted by distinguished scholars and experts, focusing on Science and Technology with special emphasis on Zoology and Ecology.
